Hong Kong(19/02/2008)- Recently, there are lots of scams in the internet, Phishing is one of the serious problem, it appears as online banking or email login page and is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as user names, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. eBay, PayPal, CitiBank and online banks are common targets. If visitors enter their user name and password into these fake websites, money and personal information may be lost, People who want to escape from these online scam will need to be more careful when browsing in the web, also they need a effective anti-phishing software for protection.

 

Unlike traditional Anti-phishing software : Detect phishing prior to user report, no first victim

        In the traditional phishing report mechanism, anti-phishing software rely on user reporting and websites scanning. Unfortunately, so many phishing websites are created every day, website scanning is so slow to detect phishing. That mean someone will be the first victim and the phishing website will then be reported. In order to avoid any Victim sacrificed by phishing, besides the traditional mechanism, Reasonable Anti-phishing compares the suspected webpage and the real webpage by Artificial intelligence. This allows Reasonable Anti-phishing to detect phishing proactively and avoid any user sacrificed.

 

Protection Customization , Visual Detective

Compared with traditional Anti-phishing software, Reasonable Anti-phishing introduces two new functions, Visual Detective and Protection Customization. Visual Detective identifies phishing webpage by comparing the visual similarity of the suspected webpage and the original webpage. This allows Reasonable Anti-phishing to block the latest phishing without waiting for phishing report. Protection Customization gives user a way to customize their protection by adding the websites they wanted to protect.

 

Enterprise guard : Protect domain name, reduce risk

        Alan Wo, Director of Reasonable Software House Limited, said Reasonable Anti-phishing can protect users and increase enterprise’s website security, the system actively detect suspected phishing website by visual similarity, the detected phishing will be reported to system administrator and other users for protecting enterprise and user’s properties.

It is free to use, a donation reminder will be shown when it protects every 1000 websites. To remove the reminder, user can donate any amount of money for a license key. Reasonable is also seeking partners and developers who are interested in integrating the technology in their internet security software, browser toolbar and anti-spam software.  

 

Reasonable Anti-phishing is a project developed by Reasonable Software and the City University of Hong Kong. 18% of the donation will be sponsored to City University of Hong Kong for supporting R&D of anti-phishing.
