More than thirty years ago, the United Nations General Assembly took an important step in promoting the idea that everyone deserves a decent place to live by declaring the first Monday in October of each year as World Habitat Day.
In celebration of World Habitat Day on Monday, 3 October, 2016, Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong joins with Baker & McKenzie and our supporters to rededicate ourselves to recognizing the basic right of everyone to adequate shelter, which can remove barriers to opportunity, health and success and lift people out of the vicious cycle of intergenerational poverty.
In communicating the importance of adequate housing on this special day, it is our great pleasure to invite you to join us in our Executive Briefing - a thought-provoking panel discussion that will explore the issues of urban poverty in Hong Kong, and the need for affordable housing as a catalyst for development in view of the sky-rocketing property prices and gentrification. The ceremony will start at 12 noon. Light refreshments will be served.
