Women empowering women

More than 30 volunteers participated in a special Women Build version of Project Home Works on 10 March to recognise International Women’s Day. Eight female-headed, elderly, low-income individuals or families in Wang Tau Hom Estate and Lok Fu Estate were supported to renovate, repair and clean their homes. Strong efforts by the volunteers in their fetching pink T-shirts ensured the families now have safer, cleaner homes – huge thanks to all involved. Thanks also to Mary Dimitropoulou and Sabrina Wen for being our volunteer photographers.

Charity run - Race the Runway

The inaugural 'Race the Runway' event is open for registration. Held at Kai Tak Runway Park, the run offers a stunning panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and glimpses of Lion Rock. As the benefiting charity, we receive funds raised through donations from the event to support our work improving the living environments of low-income families.
You get to get fit AND support a great cause. Everyone's a winner! We are also recruiting helper volunteers!

Habitat Young Leaders Build 2018 - China

37-year-old Mr. Chen Shi Ming lives with his family in a mudbrick house without proper sanitation and ventilation facilities. They really want a new, safe home but as farmers with a low annual household income, it is difficult for the family to afford the construction cost. Mr. Chen and his family will now receive financial and technical support from Habitat for Humanity China. This, combined with volunteers helping with construction, means the Chen family are able to build a new house.

Myanmar Build ends with smile all around

The Myanmar Build 2018 ended with laughter and music on 16 March! 64 student volunteers from Japan, alongside nine volunteers from Hong Kong, worked hard together to build eight safe and strong bamboo houses for low-income families. Our ambassador James Hong, in addition to building, made videos every day to record the memorable moments. Aside from sharing memories, the volunteers from Japan shared their ‘hand washing songs’ with children in Bago too. With improved physical infrastructure and education, the families that chose to partner with Habitat now have a strong foundation to build a better life.
