Firm bricks = Stable future
Phan Dinh Phuc, his wife Do Thi Tung and their two children live in a remote village in Tien Canh commune, Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province, in Vietnam. His wife Tung is unable to work due to a disability, so Phuc’s limited earnings as a seasonal labourer are their main source of income. This made it hard for them to cover the cost of basic necessities and school fees, with nothing left to build a decent home.
With the encouragement of his relatives, neighbours, the local authority and a commitment by Habitat for Humanity Vietnam, Phuc decided to build a house based on a Habitat design. The 36-square-metre house consists of one living room, two bedrooms and a detached bathroom. Not only were Phuc and his family overjoyed about this significant change in their lives, but so was everyone else in their community who knew their family hardship.
The house was completed before Lunar New Year and become a blessing for Phuc’s family. Phuc believes the future of his family will be as stable as the firm bricks laid in their home’s walls.

Energetic House Building |
|
Twenty-three volunteers from Swire Properties Limited formed a Global Village team and travelled to Conghua in Guangzhou to build safe, strong houses alongside low-income families. The volunteers worked together to move materials, mix cement and lay bricks for the new homes. Lots of energy went into ensuring local families would be able to live in decent housing and begin a new chapter in their lives.

Dumplings Full of Love and Joy |
|
Volunteers from JLL Hong Kong visited SAGE Bradbury Home for the Elderly on 5 June to wrap rice dumplings with the elderly residents in preparation for the Dragon Boat Festival. There were smiles all round as the rice dumplings were filled with love and joy. Big thanks to IE Kitchen for preparing the ingredients and being our rice dumpling Master Chef! We hope to announce a new SAGE and Habitat partnership soon. Hope you enjoyed some dumplings too!
