Australian volunteers work for a better Hong Kong

Around 360 Australian volunteers from telecommunications company Optus, together with 40 local volunteers, improved living and school environments in Kai Yip Estate, Kowloon Bay, and Jat Min Estate, Tai Wai, on 17 and 18 July. In total, 16 houses were renovated and 25 homes cleaned, and 2 schools (Buddhist Chi King Primary School & Sha Tin Wai Dr. Catherine F. Woo Memorial School) cleaned and decorated with mural paintings. Thank you for all your hard work to support 41 families to improve their home. The schools can definitely boast of more colourful and energetic campuses.
Big smile from Vietnam home partner
With a household monthly income of just 300 million Vietnamese Dong (approx. HKD 1000), housewife Nguyen Thi Tra My, her husband and son lived in a dilapidated home. With their limited income, affording a daily meal was a struggle, and there was never anything left to repair their old, broken house. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity Vietnam and accessing government support, they now have what they wished for – a decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity Vietnam works closely with local communities across the country to support families secure affordable housing.
