Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong’s “Young Leaders Volunteer Day” will be held on 1st December this year. It will celebrate International Volunteer Day and launch our “Habitat Young Leaders Build,” an annual build programme that brings together youth from across the Asia-Pacific region to support people and families in need of decent housing.

Volunteers will spend the morning at Kai Yip Estate in Kowloon Bay carrying out basic cleaning for elderly and low-income families. Special thanks to artiste, Michael Tong, who will join us in cleaning the homes of 50 elderly families in Kai Yip Estate. This activity will include sweeping floors, cleaning furniture and throwing away rubbish. Registration ends on Sunday. Take a moment and sign up using the link below!

Korean Consul-General volunteered to clean up HK primary school
We held a school cleaning event on 20th October, in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Korean Air and Hyosung International (H.K.) Limited. More than 80 volunteers worked hard to clean up CNEC Ta Tung School in Kwai Chung. Let’s check out the photos!
Long awaited new home for family in Yaojia, China
Xingzhi Zhang (alias) has lived in a dilapidated mud-house for almost 40 years with his elderly parents in Yaojia Township, China. He was diagnosed with bone cancer and lost his right leg 20 years ago. Mr. Zhang’s wife is a migrant worker in Beijng and financially supports the family, with the help of their son and daughter. Although everyone works hard to contribute to the family income, they have been unable to afford a new home.

Habitat for Humanity China gave the Zhang family an interest-free loan of RMB20,000, to help them realize their dream for a new home. Mr. Zhang now has a newly-built house with running water, a kitchen and a separate sitting toilet, which accommodates his disability.
Habitat x Bloomberg - Build a better home
13 volunteers from Bloomberg visited Kwai Shing West Estate to help 3 low-income families renovate their homes, joined by new Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong CEO – Jo Hayes. The volunteers worked hard to scrape off peeling paint, apply a special waterproof primer to help protect against humidity, repaint and clean the homes. Thank you to Bloomberg for supporting our work!
School Outreach : Tung Wah College
We organised a sharing session for Tung Wah College on 27th September, 2018 and were delighted to have more than 150 students attend. Students showed great interest in Habitat’s work and were moved by Carlos, a Education University of Hong Kong student who shared his personal experience working on Habitat’s Macedonia Build.
