Working from home, wearing fluffy bed-socks and cosy jumpers to keep warm, I am acutely aware of the privileges I have. I joke with the Habitat team about the electric foot warmer I have under my desk because my house is 'freezing'. But for so many, keeping warm in their home is no laughing matter. Every day, I think about the families we serve who are at home without windows, let alone a heater they can afford to plug in. Every day, I think about how we can continue to increase our impact and address the systemic issues that lead to substandard housing. Every day, I think about how we can raise more awareness of these issues and invite more people to join the Habitat family as life-long advocates for the cause of decent and affordable housing.
We continue to serve vulnerable families as best we can during these challenging times and as the Habitat team put up our ‘fai chun’ and get ready for Chinese New Year, special gift bags are making their way to the homes of vulnerable elderly families living in substandard housing.
To continue to deliver our impactful programmes, we need your continued support and the Habitat team and our fantastic volunteers, are working hard on our first ever online Family FUNdraiser! Yes! We want to put the fun into fundraising and invite you AND your families to join us for a virtual interactive and family-friendly event on Thursday, 18 February from 1pm-2pm.
The Habitat family invites you and your family to celebrate Chinese New Year together, from the safety of your own home.
