There are 1.6 billion people living in inadequate shelter around the world, including 150 million people who live in dreadful conditions in Mainland China. Many have lost their homes through natural disasters or live in aging and dilapidated houses. With the vision of "a world where everyone has a decent place to live", Habitat for Humanity has helped over 3 million of people in more than 70 countries worldwide. Every 5 1/2 minutes, Habitat serves a family in need of better housing for a better tomorrow.
The United Nations has designated the first Monday in October every year to be the World Habitat Day as a global day to highlight the desperate need for adequate housing. TODAY, October 7, 2013, is the World Habitat Day! To support the action of putting an end of poverty housing, you can sign the World Habitat Day Pledge and join Habitat's activities to promote the need of a safe, decent and affordable home for all:

"Pray for Sichuan" Open Build 2013
A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan Province of China on April 20, 2013. Habitat for Humanity China has set up the "Sichuan Post-Earthquake Rebuilding Fund" for supporting "Sichuan Post-Earthquake Rebuilding Projects".
HFH China is now recruiting volunteers to make donations supporting our "Sichuan Post-Earthquake Rebuilding Projects" and join "Pray for Sichuan" Open Build 2013 in December, helping build new homes which can withstand earthquake for the families in need. Enroll now!

"Green Joyful Home for Disabled" provides basic home renovation and enhancement services for 120 low-income families with disabled members who rent in public housing in Hong Kong. Families can enjoy their lives in safer and greener homes with the care and love of volunteers.

"Hong Kong Hardwood Classic" Charity Basketball Tournament
Hong Kong Property Community will join hands with HFH China to organize its annual basketball tournament and designate HFH China as the beneficiary of the tournament. After deducting the event expenses, the donations will be earmarked for Habitat's building projects in Mainland China and Hong Kong.
