Habitat for Humanity China

To arouse public awareness of poverty housing problem, Habitat for Humanity (HFH) China will hold "Under No Roof" Camp 2014 in Ma On Shan YMCA Wu Kwai Shan Youth Village on July 26 and 27. Participants will experience the wealth disparity and understand the general needs of the homelessness.

In its second year, HFH China enhanced the “Under No Roof” Camp 2014 by introducing two new groups,  Resettlement Group and Street Sleeper Group, so that participants can experience poverty, homelessness and natural disasters, and to appreciate the importance of decent homes under various environment and weather.

Participants joining the daytime Resettlement Group will participate in a workshop to equip themselves with basic survival skills in disasters and adverse living environment. During treasure hunt and building of shelters, they can experience resettlement and learn about different habitat’s architectural features around the world. The Street Sleeper Group participants will have an opportunity to learn survival skills through games, including cooking in the wild at midnight. Participants will also learn to evacuate from their residences safely through stimulated disasters such as earthquakes.
