US, German, and Dutch companies had taken the lead in developing 3D HD maps, and now Japan is trying to catch up and surpass them.
In the upcoming “China Autonomous Driving HD Live Map Innovation Conference (HDMap2019) ” to be held on the 23rd – 24th May 2019 in Beijing, the worldwide leading Japan HD map makers will present their precious best practices experiences for you to benchmark you own job.
The autonomous driving is the most advanced topic in the field of Intelligent Transportation System in recent years. Dr. Wentao Che, the Manager of GIS Technology, Sensing Business Development Department of Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd will introduce how they create the 3D HD Map for self-driving vehicles using Lidar and 360-degree cameras based on Mobile Mapping System (MMS) in Japan in the last three years. The contents will include how to prepare the HD Map Specification and how to define the data structure and data formats, how to create the tools to automate the data processing, and how to assure the quality of HD Map using the auto-processing tools, what the applications of HD Map and beyond will be in the near future.
It is well known that Toyota is developing an open source autonomous driving HD map with the intention of grabbing 20 billion markets. Recently, Toyota Research Institute-Advanced Development Corporation (TRI-AD) and CARMERA announced a joint effort to validate the concept of developing a camera-based high-precision (HD) map for urban roads and roads. Mr. Mandali Khalesi, the Vice President of Automated Driving from Toyota Research Institute - Advanced Technology will also give you a keynote talk on the topic of " Building Toyota's Automated Driving Stack " including the latest development of HD Maps from Toyota Research Institute Advanced Development (TRI-AD); The latest development of perception from Toyota Motor Europe (TME); and the latest development of simulation from Toyota Research Institute (TRI)
In addition, Dr. Zheng Liu, the Chief Expert of China Div. from Denso will present on the topic of “ Automatic HD Map update by in-vehicle camera probe data abstraction and on-time generation of jam by the system” given the background of DENSO and TomTom have co-developed the automatic updating HD Map content, the system. The system has been composed of
Roadagram and CPP (Contents Production Platform). Roadagram means that in-vehicle camera or such in-vehicle sensor data retrieval data which is normalized and characterized into a kind of symbolic data, the in-vehicle system. CPP means that cloud computer, processing the uplinked data file, filtered and analyzed them into the true data, then the true data have been compared the HD Map, finally judged if there is the data which has been changed now, that is the update data itself. Automatic HD Map update system has also featured as dynamic contents generation, such as traffic information, especially a jam tail generation. This presentation will show a jam tail finding as such the dynamic data by Roadagram and Contents Production Platform.
Do not miss out ! Register HDMap 2019 now to take this precious opportunity of learning Japan best practice of make 3D HD Map!
