Hello,
June was a busy month at Katterwall. Soho Collective performed two brand new arrangements as part of RTHK's “Michael Jackson Hits. Hong Kong” at Grappas, it was a lovely night with six local groups putting their personal stamps on some of Jackson's greatest songs. Two nights later “Raising The Roof 2009” at the HK Cultural Centre featuring five local groups was a huge success. In the same week, Kassia Men's Chorus performed their the Beatles tribute “Day Tripper” at the Melting Pot. Phew!
On top of this, some very exciting news is that we've moved offices – see In Focus below for details.
Our summer plans are ready to fly: Hullaballoo, Singing'SKool, Summer Fling, Chamber Choir and singing lessons (in our brand new teaching rooms). There's really no excuse not to get some singing in this summer. Please see the below for details and drop us a line if you'd like to sign up, audition or see a show.

Kassia Children’s Choir - Hullaballoo for ages 5-8
Daily 6th – 10th July, 10th – 14th August
Sheung Wan Civic Centre
Summer songs: Surfin' USA, Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room, Splish Splash, Rainbow Connection, movement, music theory, and music games. We will divide the group into beginner and intermediate theory lessons to accommodate children of different musical backgrounds. We can help you determine which theory group best suits your child and they need only come to one theory lesson each day.
Per child per course: $1,480
11:15am – 12:20pm for beginners
11:40am – 12:45pm for intermediate
Singing’SKool for ages 9-12
Daily 6th – 10th July, 27th – 31st July, 10th – 14th August
Sheung Wan Civic Centre
Designed to bridge the gap between singing in primary school choirs and taking individual singing lessons or joining a secondary school choir / full musical theatre chorus. Group lessons, lead by Katterwall’s professional singing teachers include warms ups exercises, performance techniques, repertoire building and sol fa.
Per child per course: $2,180
2-3pm daily
Summer Fling with Kassia Men and Women
Rehearsals every Tuesday evening and Saturday morning from 4th - 29th August. Songs include:
Hallelujah – Leonard Coen's song made famous in Shrek
May It Be – from Lord Of The Rings
Let My People Go – a rousing gospel number
Bless The Broken Road – Racsal Flatts classic country song (as recorded by Kassia Women's Choir!)
Sway – Mexican standard “When marimba rhythms start to sway...”
Bim Bom – Joan Gilberto's bossa nova classic

As of 1st July, we've moved next door (literally, from room 805 to 806) into the corner office, it's more than twice the size of our old office, very bright and with:
Four sound-proofed TEACHING ROOMS.
A comfortable WAITING AREA for students / parents / helpers.
And most exciting of all... a 340 sq. ft. REHEARSAL ROOM with piano, stereo system and mirrors – perfect for recitals, master classes, rehearsals and lessons.
This room will be available for hire to local performing arts groups at very reasonable rates. Drop us a line for more details or to arrange a visit.
