Hello!
There's less than one month to go until our festive cheer bubbles over!
Tickets for Kassia Choirs fifties-inspired "Martinis & Mistletoe" show
will go on sale from the middle of the month. The show includes Jingle Bell Rock, All Alone Beneath The Mistletoe,
Jingle Bells, Baby (It's Cold Outside), Marshmallow World and Little Saint Nick. The Island School show on
18th December will include en masse carolling and will be raising money in support of the Little Life Warrior Choir.
Join our third Community Christmas Carols evening at the Lan Kwai Fong
Amphitheatre on Friday 27th November in aid of Operation Santa Claus. It's a great event for the whole family,
the more the merrier! See In Focus below for more details.
Our singing students have been invited to sing carols at two 5* hotels
this Christmas. They will be appearing at the Four Seasons on 24th November and the Peninsula on
22nd December.
Looking ahead to 2010, we have a new group starting – Katterwall's SINGING CIRCLE lead by me will be an informal daytime
singing group for people who want to have a sing without the pressure of performing or even auditioning! Email me for more
details.
Auditions for the next Kassia term are just round the corner. Kassia Women's Choir will be presenting "Soul Sister II", a
programme dedicated to gospel and spiritual music at St. John's Cathedral in March. Kassia Men's Chorus will be putting a
programme of musical theatre favourites conducted by Andrew Swift. Drop Fani an email if you'd like to book a slot –
auditions are quick and easy, we just need to know you can sing in tune!
Yours |

Kassia Men and Women will present two evenings
of swinging Christmas tunes this December, including perennial
50's favourites such as "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", "Jingle
Bell Rock", "Santa Bring My Baby Back To Me", "Frosty The Snowman" and of
course, the swing version of "Jingle Bells".
The second of our two shows at Island
School on Friday 18th December will be raising money for "The
Little Life Warrior Choir" through the sale of mulled wine and mince pies. This
charity, established in 2002, is for children who are being
treated for cancer at the Prince of Wales Hospital. The Choir is an important
part of their recovery and gives them a chance to have fun, sing, be joyful and
be in a group with children who are going through similar experiences. Some of
the children are currently in remission, some are still undergoing treatment,
some have been recently diagnosed and some are siblings of children with
cancer. The children meet regularly to play games and rehearse in a specially
designated room at the hospital. The Choir are looking to raise funds to equip
a hospital with similar facilities in mainland China.
The Island School show will also
feature the opportunity to join the choir in some traditional carols.
