Hello and Happy New Year!
I hope that your holiday was filled with fun and lovely things and this
finds you ready and raring to leap into the 10's (will they be called the “teens”?).
Musical theatre masterclasses with Katterwall's teachers
Andrew Swift, Amy Jorrisch and Naomi Symeou are taking place this month. There are still a few spaces available if you'd
like to come and work on an audition piece for a show, exam, school or college application with the guidance of our highly
experienced teachers and accompanied by our fabulous pianists.
The Singing Circle, for people who love to sing but would
prefer not to audition, learn anything off by heart or perform in front of an audience, starts this month too. Lead by me,
it will be an hour a week singing a whole selection of musical styles (folk songs, world music, old stuff, new stuff) in
the comfort of our own studio.
Songs For A New World, Katterwall's first independently
produced musical, is in the final stages of preparation, opening as part of the Fringe City Festival from 3rd -
6th February. See below for more information about this exciting new venture featuring some of the best talent
from HK's musical theatre scene.
Also, we have new terms for Singing'SKool, Hullaballoo, Kassia Women's Choir, Kassia Men's Chorus and of
course individual singing lessons at our studio. It's a great time to get some more music into your life!

IN FOCUS: Musical - Songs For A New World
|
|
Katterwall's production of Jason Robert Brown's Songs
For A New World, features some of HK's brightest musical theatre performers. A theatrical song cycle, the
show takes you on a journey through life’s little hiccups, heartaches, fresh beginnings, and triumphs whilst moving along
the path to discovering new worlds within oneself and beyond. Brown said of the show “It's about one moment. It's
about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.”
Songs For A New World takes its musical
inspiration from a wide variety of styles including gospel, pop, jazz and classical with some songs combining two or more
of these genres. The centre piece song “Stars And The Moon” has been recorded by many of today's leading musical theatre
singers including Audra McDonald and Betty Buckley.
Wed 3rd to Sat 6th February at HK Fringe

If your New Year's resolution is to get some more music into your life, or perhaps try something new, this could be
just the thing! Lead by Bethan, the group will meet weekly to sing an eclectic mix of music with no pressure of
performance, auditioning or learning anything off by heart. Just turn up and sing once a week – it's good for the soul!
