Katterwall Newsletter

Hello,

Kassia Men's Chorus are presenting 'Back To Broadway' at Rockschool, Wanchai on Tuesday 1st June. Conducted by Katterwall's Andrew Swift, the men will run present a variety of songs from well-known shows old and new. As well as classics such as West Side Story (featuring our teacher and fabulous soprano, Colette Lam), the choir will give us a taste of what’s going on in musical theatre today, with selections from modern works, including: The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Ragtime and A New Brain.See below for further details.

Our children and adult vocal students are taking part in Katterwall's end of term Recital for friends and family at the end of the month. It's a great opportunity for everyone to meet up and hear how everyone's doing and for our students to show off all the hard work they've put in over the year.

As mentiioned last month, Andrew is busy at work writing a brand musical for our summer intensive musical theatre workshop for 11 - 18 year olds.  Drop us a line to get more details!

Yours

Director, Katterwall

Back to Broadway with Kassia Men's Chorus!

Kassia Men’s Choir will give Hong Kong audiences a taste of what’s going on in musical theatre today, with some exciting selections from modern works, including:

The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Rupert Holmes’ musical based on Charles Dickens’ unfinished novel. It was the first Broadway musical with multiple endings (determined by audience vote), and won five Tony awards including Best Musical.

Monty Python’s Spamalot, described by its creators as a musical lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Ragtime – the Musical, based on E.L. Doctorow’s 1975 novel Ragtime, and focusing on the experiences of characters from three major socio-ethnic groups upper-class WASPs, African-Americans, and Eastern European Jewish immigrants.

A New Brain, the William Finn / James Lapine musical about a songwriter suffering from a brain malformation and worrying that he will die before he has written his best work.

Tuesday 1st June at 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm)
Tickets: $100  (ages 18+ only, as the venue is a bar)
