Hello,
This Friday  is our fourth annual Community Carolling in aid of Operation Santa Claus.  We'll be at the Lan Kwai Fong Amphitheatre (aka Lok Hing Lane Sitting Out Area) and singing will start around 7.30pm - get there early to grab a seat, everyone is welcome! Carolling booklets are being sold at KilaBaby Buddha and LINQ at $60 each, with all profits after costs being donated to RTHK / SCMP's charity that benefits many local organisations every year. Last year we had close to 200 people singing, so come and join in!

Then it's Kassia Choirs' Christmas show 'Tis The Season' on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th December, presenting a mix of spiritual, gospel and traditional Christmas music with accompaniment from handbell ringers, they never fail to make me feel Seasonal (with a capital S). See below for more details.

Later in the month, our younger singing students, Hullaballoo, Singin'SKool and KYMT members will be appearing at the Peninsula lobby on the 22nd singing a selection of carols for those lucky enough to be enjoying a festive cream tea.

We are very proud that three of Katterwall's young students as well as Chen Yong are appearing as part of CCOHK's 'The Snowman & The Bear' this month. See below for more from them.

Thank you to everyone who came to our first Katterwall Teacher's Recital last week. It was a treat to hear such a mix of vocal styles and genres over the two nights – we will definitely be presenting more so watch this space!

Happy Christmas and here's to a wonderful 2011!

Yours

Director, Katterwall

CCOHK's The Snowman & the Bear
Meet two children soloists -
Emma Kent (age 12) & Jamie Crosbie-Chen (age 10)

K: How long have you been learning singing?
E: I have been singing for 2 years.
J: I have been singing with choirs for about five years but I only started singing solos earlier this year after Bethan helped me to prepare for a Choir Camp run by the Artistic Director of the Vienna Boys Choir in Austria last summer.

K: How did you hear about this performance?
E: I heard about this performance from my violin teacher who is part of the orchestra.
J: Celia from Katterwall sent my mother an email about it.

K: What shows / performances have you done before?
E: I have sung as a backing singing in a TVB charity show and as the lead in a school musical Dear Edwina.
J: I sang the role of Nipper from Fagin's Gang in performances of the musical Oliver which was performed at the People's Liberation Army theatre in Beijing in May 2008.  I also had a small solo in a performance at the Augustin Palace in Vienna by the Vienna Boys Choir and the Dulwich College Shanghai Choir.

K: What is the most fun part singing in this production?
E: The experience, you don't get to do this everyday!
J: It's going to be a great experience to be on the same stage as Nuri Vittachi and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong!

Another Katterwall student, Natalie Lu and Katterwall teacher Chen Yong (singing the Bear) will also be performing in this production.
