Hello!

Kassia Men and Women are in the midst of rehearsing for their jazz term ‘Fly me to the moon’ – see below for details of their upcoming production.

Hot on the heels of this, Katterwall Youth Music Theatre & selected students from Katterwall Vocal Academy will also being performing with Australian Idol 2009, Stan Walker, at Half The Sky’s annual Benefit on the 21st May.

Our singers will be having another brush with fame in June when Kassia Choirs will be joined by guest a cappella group, Whim n’ Rhythm, Yale’s female counterpart to the Whiffenpoofs. They will be in HK as part of their 2011 world tour and will be performing on the final night of our ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ show.

In the office we're getting geared up for our summer programme. See below for details!

IN FOCUS: Fly Me to the Moon with Kassia Choirs

For 3 nights in June, Kassia Choirs plus guests will be presenting a programme of jazz in a brand new (for us) venue: the Sheung Wan Civic Centre HKRep Black Box Theatre, which up until this month has been dedicated to HK Rep productions. We’re very excited to be amongst the first ‘joint productions’ that they are hosting!

The programme includes a range of styles including latin jazz, smooth jazz, Dixieland, swing and free jazz with music from Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jelly Roll Morton, John Coltrane, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and Ella Fitzgerald.

The shows will be a combination of Kassia choirs, guest a cappella groups (Soho Collective and Whim n’ Rhythm) plus local HK jazz soloists.

Tickets are on sale NOW from all URBTIX outlets.
