  Hello and Happy New Year!

December was a whirlwind of concerts, carollings and corporate events for Katterwall. Kassia Choirs and Soho Collective members sang at 26 events in 18 locations. Thank you to everyone who supported, sang along or watched us in action! We are happy to report that our raffle in aid of Amnesty International's 'Stop Violence Against Women' campaign raised in excess of $30,000.

Hullaballoo, Kassia Youth, Men and Women's Choirs are all starting their new terms very soon. It's not too late if you want to fulfill that New Year's Resolution and get some music into your life - drop Brian a line in the office and come on over for a sing!

I love January. Oodles of energy for brand new plans that have been percolating for months. Schemes are dreamt up and realised. Here's to a fabulous 2008 - full of marvelous music making.

Yours

MEET... Danielle Chupak

Kassia Youth Choir member.

K: Why did you join Kassia Youth Choir?
D: "I joined in 2005. (I think!) And remembered that I really wanted to do more with my singing at that time. I was always quite shy when it came to singing in front of an audience and I guess I wanted to learn to overcome that. So when I heard about Kassia Youth Choir, and how there would be girls of around my age all loving to do the same thing, I immediately wanted to be part of it."

K: What has been your most favourite concert and why?
D:" 'A  Night at the Movies' because I have always loved watching movies like Flashdance and Lord of the Rings etc."

K: What has been your most favourite song and why?
D: " 'May It Be' from Lord of the Rings. It has a really beautiful and soulful feel to it and it's kind of relaxing to sing and easy on the vocal chords."

K: What are your hobbies (outside of singing)?
D: "Well...aside from singing, I love dancing to fast music. I've always been into dancing ever since before I could walk. The only thing is, it's quite difficult to sing and dance at the same time!"

K: What are your aspirations in life?
D: I would love to be able to master piano and be able to write my own songs one day. I'd love to make an album for myself, it doesn't have to necessarily hit the charts or become famous, but I'd love to be able to say that I've made my own album which I've written, sang and played my own songs!

Thought for the day...

"There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats."

- Albert Schweitzer

On another note...

Q: What do you get if Bach falls off a horse, but has the courage to get on again and continue riding?
A: Bach in the saddle again.

What's on your iPod?

My Choice:  'Here In Your Arms' by  HelloGoodbye.

"I like this song because on a bad day it makes me feel better and a smile immediately spreads across my face. But other times, it brings out a range of emotions, sometimes making me laugh, feel frustrated or even slightly tearful. I think the words to this song are very strange, but they are what make it unique! Also, when I'm listening to this song in public, I sometimes take a while to realize that I'm dancing -- until I see people giving me funny looks!"
