Investment Attraction Seminar for Alberta

The Alberta Hong Kong Office cordially invites you to attend the “Investment Attraction Seminar for Alberta”, and meet with the Alberta investment mission members coming from fifteen (15) companies and organizations.  The Seminar will feature the opportunities and Canadian expertise in the production of energy, shale gas; petrochemical industry and agriculture.

- Alberta has the world’s third largest oil reserves, which make up more than half of global reserves open for private investment.

- The Oilsand resources in Alberta amount to an estimated 1.7 trillion barrels of oil in place, and a recoverable reserve of 170 billion barrels.

- Chinese firms have gradually increased their interest in Canada, culminating in the C$15.1 billion investment by CNOOC in Nexen. Since 2011, oil majors from China have put more than C$27 billion into Alberta-based energy companies.

- There is keen interest for Asian buyers of natural gas to tap into the Canadian potential.

- Rich agricultural resources in Alberta (e.g. wheat, barley, canola, livestock industry) has drawn the interest of investors, in areas relating to agricultural production, food processing and plant-based biomaterials in construction and  manufacturing.

 The Investment Attraction Seminar is an ongoing effort of the Alberta Government Office, to provide a platform and networking opportunity for investors to capitalize on the opportunities in Alberta.

 Place: Asia Society Hong Kong Center (9 Justice Drive, Admiralty, Hong Kong)

 
Presentations include an overview of the investment projects in the following sectors, as well as two-way partnerships on large industrial projects in North America.

Energy:  Oilsand, natural gas, shale gas, strategic acquisition, drilling, junior oilfield

Petrochemical Sector:  Petrochemicals, downstream derivatives, Natural Gas Liquids

Agriculture:  Hemp fibre processing, nutraponic growing system, food processing, land brokerage

Cleantech Construction Sector:  Glass curtain wall, integrated solar system for high-rise construction
