What is “speed test pass-through,” and why would I want it for my property?
Let’s face it: Most hospitality venues can’t afford to offer unlimited bandwidth to every guest. As we’ve discussed before, bandwidth management can help ease the burden on your network while ensuring that enough bandwidth is available for everyone who wants to use it.
But there is at least one potential pitfall here: speed testing. It’s fairly common now for users to visit websites such as http://www.speedtest.net/ to test their bandwidth. Even when users aren’t experiencing network problems, if they see a low bandwidth number on a speed test, they’ll often object, increasing complaints and decreasing your ratings with reviews that report incorrectly low bandwidth at your property.
