| It's a beautiful day outside. Your wife is taking the kids and the dog for a walk around the neighborhood block. You watch contently as they walk up to the local dessert store and order cooling green tea ice creams to beat the heat, with the dog licking up green puddles from the pavement as the kids drip sticky melted ice cream everywhere. |

| It seems like a great day – but within twelve hours the rest of your family is huddled around the toilet bowl, hurling their guts out. Even the dog seems poorly. |

What went wrong?
If one were to take a sample of the ice cream that the family consumed, it would be evident that coliform levels are sky high. There was identified in Hong Kong over August; it is possible that many more secrets remain hidden in the drains.

| Coliform organisms do not actually cause disease; they act as biomarkers for unhygienic preparation and the presence of other pathogens. What is alarming is that in a recent press release the local Centre for Food Safety revealed that random samples they had taken as part of routine food quality checks had contained 1,800 coliform organisms per gram, 18 times the official limit of 100/gram.
