In this newsletter, we will show you how to find and remove duplicate/similar MP3 by MP3 tag.
Repeated downloading or file sharing generates duplicate musical files easily!
It is common that thousands of MP3 files are in your computer or iTune library. Do you notice that some of them are duplicate? There may be exact content same duplicate mp3, as well as musical files with different sampling rate or tag data such as artist, album etc. Repeatly download MP3 or file sharing activity generates duplicate MP3 easily. Disk space is wasted if you do not handle them.
How to find and remove duplicate/similar MP3?
Among the hundreds or thousands of songs in your computer, there may be exact duplicate musical files as well as those with different sampling rate or tag data such as artist, album etc. To uncover these duplicate/similar songs, you may search by the following templates: Back to School offer - 40% off! By Search template: Exact duplicate files
Just like any duplicate files, music and video files like Mp3, WAM, RM can be found by exact duplicate files search.
1. By Search template: Duplicate MP3
If you only want to uncover duplicate files in mp3 format but they are not exact duplicates, you can select “Duplicate mp3” in “Search Criteria” or click Review => Define report to select “Duplicate MP3”. By this search template, NoClone will search for MP3 with same tag data like title and artist, but may differ in file content due to different sampling rate. You may adjust search criteria for tag data by checking the boxes for the items provided.
By Search template: Similar files
Some musical files with the same sampling rate are different in tag data and thus are not exact duplicate files as tag data is stored as a part of file content. To uncover these similar songs, please select “Similar files” in “Search Criteria” or click Review => Define report to select “Similar files”. Please type the file type e.g. “*.wma” or “*.mp3” in the field “File type(s):” to restrict the search result to musical files. It might take a while to search similar songs.
After choosing a template for searching duplicate/similar songs, please complete the rest steps as introduced in Quick Start to remove duplicate/similar musical files.
