Wan Chai Fun and Inclusive Carnival
|

We brought a green and bright Hawaiian Christmas to the spectators as we performed Mele Kalikimaka in this year's biggest event organised by the West Wan Chai Area Committee and the Methodist Centre on 10th December.
Thanks Kitty, Jacqueline, Barry and others who came to support the event and wishing you all a Merry Christmas! |
Hawaiian Party
|
A beautiful beach, calm waters and water sports provided the perfect setting for a fun-filled Hawaiian party. But can a Hawaiian party be without hula?
At the invitation of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, we performed the dance Kananaka, the beautiful mermaid from Lahaina, for their Christmas Celebration. The members could not wait to try their own steps and we taught them a simple hula, adding lots of fun and laughter to the evening.

Mahalo for a Bountiful Year
|

We are very grateful to our members, officers and other organisations in Hong Kong, Hawaii and other locations who supported our growth this year.
During 2011, we have shared our hula with groups in Hawaii, Japan, Shanghai, China, and Canada. Within Hong Kong, we have been invited to perform hula at different communities as well as for a variety of organisations. With our strong foundation, we expect our growth to be even faster next year.
If you are keen in spreading the aloha spirit and hula to your community, we welcome you to join our executive committee. Please send us an email at HKIHA@cnconsultants.com and we shall invite you to our next committee meeting. |

Member's Corner |
|
Juliet, our International Member from Los Angeles, shared with us the following experience. We are so thankful that by contrast, the trade winds from Hawaii were fresh and soothing.
"We had extremely
strong Santa Ana winds blowing at about 60-90 miles per hour, since very early
this morning around 1+a.m, when many trees and electricity cables fell onto the
streets and cars parked along the roads, so we are completely down without any
electricity and internet service since 2a.m.! It is now
3.30 p.m. on December 1 afternoon in Los Angeles and yet the situation is still
awfully bad because we have no phone and cable lines working, so unable to
receive/make calls, except from our mobile phones! Many homes are
without gas and water too! Some roofs fell; trees uprooted onto the roads and
houses!!!! We could not watch TV news for latest updates, but only hear news
from a battery-operated radio. Some parts of our home have electricity, so I
could type this email with a light on and watch a little TV on a portable small
TV, that does not depend on cable." |
