Confucius Carnival 2012

The Confucius Carnival is considered one of the most celebrated events by the Hong Kong Tourism Board during the Chinese New Year Festival.  Amid the busy shopping district of Causeway Bay, hundreds of spectators enjoyed our hula as we staged two performances on February 4 afternoon.  Mahalo to Ms. Florence Hui, Undersecretary for Home Affairs, for presenting us with a thank you certificate.

Aloha Week Hula

Aloha Week (now known as Aloha Festivals) was created by businessman Harry Nordmark and the local business community right after World War II to kickstart the visitor industry in the traditionally "soft" October month.
The Aloha Week Song Contest began in 1948.  Jack Pitman recorded "Aloha Week Hula". and won the Contest in the early 1950's, which became the informal anthem of the annual festival!  The song starts with this playful first verse:

Little hula flirts in hula skirts
Winking at the boys in aloha shirts
That's the way they do
The Aloha Week hula .....

To learn this hula, please enroll in our Wednesday classes from 7 to 8 p.m..
