Performance at the Oahu Care Facility |

Established in 1986, the Oahu Care Facility in Honolulu is a nursing
home providing intermediate and skilled levels of care services. We showed our aloha by presenting two hula dances and singing hymns to cheer up the elderly residents, who greatly appreciated our visit.
Mahalo to Senior Pastor Morita and Ethel for your leadership and the opportunity.
If any member and friend wish to join us in lifting up the hearts of people through sharing hula. Please contact us by calling 6602 0201 or email HKIHA@cnconsultants.com. |
Hukilau |
The Hukilau is a slow, gentle dance, and ideal for learning the basics of hula. The dance vividly depicts fishermen pulling the nets while fishing in the old Hawaiian way. It was written in 1948 by Jack Owens after a visit to Laie Bay in Oahu. The song starts with the following verse:
Oh we're going to a hukilau A huki huki huki huki hukilau Everybody loves the hukilau Where the laulau is the kaukau at the luau
If you wish to learn this fun hula, please click here to enrol in our Sunday morning class at 10 a.m. at our Mid-Levels location. |
