Hong Kong International Hula Association Newsletter February 2009

HKIHA won first prize

Congratulations to the HKIHA team who won the first prize overall  and the second prize for the best costume at the Central and Western District Spring Festival Cheer-leaders competition held on the 15 February.

Hundreds lined up the streets as they watched our team dance to the tune of ancient Hawaiian chant.  The judges were most impressed by our ohana spirit in addition to the choreography to award us the first prize.

New beginners' class at Central

We received very positive response from our new class at Central.  All the participants indicated that they would recommend it to others.

Apart from Hong Kong, we had participants from Canada and the Philippines joining the class thus fulfilling our mission of being a platform for the sharing of hula across continents.

Our next beginners' class will be taught by a kumu from Hawaii on 21 and 28 March.  Please enroll soon as space is limited!  To enroll, please click here
