Hula Baby
|

Congratulations to Stephanie, who gave birth to HKIHA’s first hula baby girl on 10 January. Her first hula was Lovely Hula Hands and she broke the record for being the youngest chanter at the age of just over one month. |
Class for Dance Instructors
|
In response to popular demand, the Hong Kong International Hula Association organized a special class for dance instructors. Participants included instructors from New York, Canada and Hong Kong. Participants thoroughly enjoyed sharing of the hula Dainty Cheeks (Papalina Lahilahi). The first verse of this beautiful song runs like this:
He aloha wau ia ‘oe la (I love you)
Kou papalina lahilahi (and your dainty cheeks)
I ka ho’opulu mau ‘ia la (always dampened)
I ka hunehune o ke kai (by the sea spray)

At Tong Wo, Kohala, Hawaii
Tong Wo is located in Halawa, Kohala, on the hill above the Kamehameha rock. At one time, Kohala had a strong Chinese community with two main clubs. Tong Wo is the last Chinese Society building in Hawaii standing in its original location with some of its original furniture, paper flowers and scrolls. Come, bring food, enjoy the day! To register for the event, please send an email to HKIHA@cnconsultants.com. |
