May Day is Lei Day

Everyone wore a lei to our workshop to celebrate May Day.  'May Day is Lei Day' in Hawaii.  The purpose of Lei Day is to celebrate with the sole purpose of engaging in random acts of kindness and sharing, and to celebrate the Aloha spirit, that intangible, but palpable, essence which is best exemplified by the hospitality and inclusiveness exhibited by the Hawaiians to all people of goodwill.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawai`i
Garlands of flowers ev'ry where
All of the colors in the rainbow
Maidens with blossoms in their hair
Flowers that mean we should be happy
Throwing aside our load of care, Oh!
May Day is Lei Day in Hawai`i
Lei Day is happy day out there.

(from May Day is Lei Day in Hawai`I, words and music by "Red" Hawk)

Hit and Run Hula

Families were pleasantly surprised when they saw for the first time Hit and Run Hula being performed at the Wan Chai Gap Park in Hong Kong. Crowds gathered and applauded avidly at the brief performance on Sunday 9th May.

Hit and Run Hula was introduced by the dancers of Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu in San Francisco in 2009, when they rode on a bus and piled out to dance in more than ten locations in the city to unsuspecting spectators.

If you are interested in joining us for our next Hit and Run Hula performance, please call us at 6602 0201 or email us at HKIHA@cnconsultants.com
