FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Philadelphia PA, USA - June 11, 2008—Today, the Scientific business of Thomson Reuters shipped a major upgrade to EndNote® for Windows®—the bibliographic management software used by millions of researchers, librarians and students worldwide. EndNote X2 continues a 20-year tradition of innovation by introducing a full text locator for references, Smart Groups for instant reference sorting, and an expanded “Groups” panel to centralize collection and organization activities---saving users time and allowing them to concentrate on their research.
“EndNote X2 is the only bibliographic management product to deliver high-impact features such as finding full text and Smart Groups that eliminate tasks for users,” said Keith MacGregor, EVP Academic and Government Markets, Thomson Scientific. “Coupled with EndNote Web, users can collaborate efficiently on the Web and desktop with direct connectivity to the high quality resources in ISI Web of Knowledge.”
Find full text automatically
EndNote X2 locates full text articles for references. The user simply selects one or more references, a group or an entire library, and EndNote scans online sources for available full text. Once found, EndNote downloads and attaches the article PDF file to the appropriate reference automatically, all while the user continues working.
Access more information in the Groups panel
EndNote X2 brings organizational and collection touch points together in the Groups panel, making these frequently used tasks easy to find and use:
- Create Smart Groups based on user criteria for automatic sorting of references as they’re added to an EndNote library
- Search favorite online resources and library catalogs instantly
- Retrieve deleted references from the Trash group
- Transfer groups between EndNote Web and EndNote easily
Other features of the upgrade include:
- Search online databases or an EndNote library using the Integrated Search tab in the preview pane of the main Library window
- Track new and updated references with the auto date stamp
- View Library and Record summaries for a snapshot of key metrics such as groupings, counts, date last saved, most used reference types, and more
- Use new reference types—Aggregated Database, Blog, Catalog, Pamphlet, Serial Publication and Standard
- Access online resources and publishing styles—2,800+ online connection files, 600+ import filters and 3,300 journal styles.
- Transfer groups between EndNote Web and EndNote easily
