EDITOR'S NOTES News Digest 10.01.2014
After completing the sales of 80 percent of the company's shares to LVMH last December, Mr. Sergio Loro Piana, one of the two brothers who steer Loro Piana SpA, unfortunately passed away before Christmas, according to Woman's Wear Daily.
The Loro Piana family has traded wool and fabrics since the early 1800s. The current business was founded in 1924 by Mr. Pietro Loro Piana in Piedmont. He started exporting fine fabrics to international markets in the 1940s. His nephew, Pier Luigi and Sergio took over it in the 1970s, and developed the brand and expanded into luxury retail.
Loro Piana is nowadays the largest western manufacturer of cashmere and a specialist in the world's rarest natural fibre, vicuna. Their success story inspires us how we run our apparel business today. Could this be discussed at the upcoming Prime Source Forum (PSF), from 1-2 April 2014 in Hong Kong?

The early bird offer (Phase II) of PSF2014 is now extended to 17 Jan 2014 in view of strong requests. Click here for online registration.
