How to Identify a Dell EMC PowerEdge Server Generation?
Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with common design components can be
grouped into generations based on their server model names, for
example, PowerEdge 12th generation servers, 13th generation, 14th
generation, or 15th generation.
Here we provide general guidance for PowerEdge server model naming
conventions to help identify the generation and key components.
The server naming of models can provide insight to the generation,
class of system, form factor or CPU socket count. For legacry
servers, prior to the 10th generation, a different server naming
scheme was utilized.
