The 2010 Rosso dei Notri is super-impressive. It boasts marvelous richness and power in its dark cherries and plums, all supported by firm yet polished tannins. Freshly cut flowers, mint and licorice develop in the glass, adding further complexity and nuance. The 2010 has come together very nicely since I tasted it a year ago. I especially like the energy of the finish. This is a fabulous wine for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020...

The 2007 Giusto dei Notri is a gorgeous, dark beauty endowed with layers of sensual black and blue fruits. Soft, seamless and utterly enveloping, the 2007 Giusto dei Notri impresses for its depth and richness, both of which have been achieved without any excess heaviness. Today the oak is rather pronounced and the wine needs further time in bottle for its full range of aromas and flavors to emerge, but make no mistake, this is a terrific and highly enjoyable wine. The 2008 Redigaffi is impeccable in its elegance and polish. Dark cherries, licorice, espresso and mocha meld together beautifully in this textured, fleshy wine. Despite its sophisticated personality, there is plenty of tannin lurking underneath to provide support. This is a beautifully round, opulent, yet impeccably balanced wine of the highest level. Smoke, minerals, licorice and tar wrap around the intense finish. Redigaffi remains a unique and powerful expression of Merlot from the Tuscan coast. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028.
