The Secret Garden: Symbols of Nature in Wood, Silver and Gold |
|
Our new special exhibition, The Secret Garden: Symbols of Nature in Wood, Silver and Gold, opens in less than a week! Join us from September 1st to discover how the beauty of the natural world and the passing of the seasons have been celebrated by painters and artisans over the last three hundred years.
Displayed together for the first time, Liang Yi Museum's masterpieces of Chinese furniture from the Ming (1368 –1644) and Qing (1644 –1912) dynasties; gleaming European, American and Japanese silver; and delicate gold vanity cases explore how artists, craftsmen and designers across the world used a shared visual language to form images beauty in response to nature. While culturally distinct, the symbols they employed were meant to be understood by all, conveying ideals of prosperity, longevity, and an appreciation for the natural world.
Book your spot at visitors@liangyimuseum.com.
