        每个团队在接受简陋并看似不可能的材料,发挥团队自己的聪明才智和想象力,付诸于行动建造一艘能够航行的船。在整个过程中,参与团队通过队员之间合作以及集体努力,完成这项看似“不可能完成的任务”。
        Each team should explore their imagination and use their wisdom to build a boat that can sail with shabby and limited resources. During the process, participants should work with each other and complete this ‘mission impossible’.

Part 1- Building Your Raft:

 

Each team will be asked to build a raft that can carry 2 adults across a lake/ river of 20m;

The only materials are some water-proof duct tape, plastic pipes and some canvas;

Participants will be tasked to ensure quality of the raft, as the raft must NOT sink or be overturned during the voyage.

If the raft overturns, the team will be asked to start from the beginning point again

Part 2 - Testing Your Raft:

 

Participants will then be asked to test their raft by having 2 persons to row their raft 20 metres across the lake/ river, and back.

 

If any team were to fall into the water, they will have to start from the starting point again.

 

The team that manages to ferry 2 persons to-and-fro wins. 

 

Safety precaution: ALL participants are required to put on their life-jackets at all times, regardless if they are in the raft, or in the water.

 

Debriefing points:

l     Using the Ishikawa (dish-bone) diagram, analyse what are the constraints face in building the raft;

l     Using the Ishikawa (dish-bone) diagram, analyse what are the how the raft can be improved;

l     How else can we facilitate better sharing and implementing of the best ideas?

Part 3 - Rebuilding Your Raft:

 

Based on the debriefing in Part 2, participants will then rebuild their raft.

 

This time, they will have to build a raft that can carry 2 persons, AND they will have to ferry everybody to the opposite shore, while shipping a load of cargo from the opposite shore over to the starting point.

 

If any team were to fall into the water, they will have to start from the starting point again.

 

The team that manages to complete the above task wins. 

 

Safety precaution: ALL participants are required to put on their life-jackets at all times, regardless if they are in the raft, or in the water.

Part 4 - Perform Your Raft:

 

Participants will have to ferry everybody on their team to the opposite shore, while shipping a load of cargo from the opposite shore over to the starting point.

 

If any team were to fall into the water, they will have to start from the starting point again.

 

The team that manages to complete the above task wins.  

 

Safety precaution: ALL participants are required to put on their life-jackets at all times, regardless if they are in the raft, or in the water.

 

Debriefing points:

l     How were we able to deliver a quality product (the raft) that achieve its objectives?;

l     How were we able to solve problems as a team when performing our task?;

l     How did we inspire one another to make sure we deliver the expected results?

Final debrief

·         During the activities, when were the times when we felt particularly frustrated?  Why?

·         What were some of the instances that things didn’t go as well as planned?  What happened? Analysis using the Ishikawa (fish-bone) diagram

·         How did we inspire one another?

·         How can we apply what we learn today to achieve better results at work?
