Final Call for applications for Australia’s Endeavour Awards 2011

Time is fast running out for students, researchers and executives to win a scholarship opportunity to study in Australia!

Applications for Australia’s Endeavour Awards 2011 will close at the end of this month.

The  Endeavour Awards are part of the Australia Awards initiative and offer scholarships across a variety of disciplines for study ranging from a month to three and a half years.

Australian  Consul-General,  Mr  Les  Luck,  says the awards offer a unique opportunity  for people in Hong Kong and Macau to further their studies and skills in an international environment.

“These scholarships form an important part of our ongoing relationship with this region,” said Mr Luck.

“By promoting knowledge, a good education and enduring personal friendships, we hope over time to build a new generation of global leaders with strong links to Australia,” he added.

The  Endeavour Awards aim to develop these links by bringing high achieving researchers,  executives  and  students  to  Australia  to undertake study, research projects and professional development.

In  2010,  two  Hong Kong applicants were successful in obtaining Endeavour Awards.

Joining  the  nine  Australian  recipients  coming  to Hong Kong this year, Chinese  University of Hong Kong student Lo Pui-yin has already started her study  of  mental  health  at  the  University  of Queensland; while Dr Wong Yuet-hong  will go to University of Sydney for his professional development in radiology in October.
Hong  Kong  and  Macau  applicants  are  able to apply under five different scholarship categories:

·     Endeavour Postgraduate Awards
·     Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowships
·     Endeavour Research Fellowships
·     Endeavour Vocational Education and Training (VET) Awards
·     Endeavour Executive Awards

The  Endeavour  Awards  are  merit based covering short and long-term study with  full financial support for up to three and a half years of Masters or PhD study.

“Many  people  in  Hong Kong and Macau are already aware of the value of an education from Australia,” Mr Luck said.  “I encourage anyone with a desire to  further  their  knowledge  and  experience  to  seriously consider this opportunity.”

Eligibility  requirements and conditions vary between different categories.
