Since 1999 the China Challenge Cup, officially known as the Chinese Entrepreneurship Plan Competition for University Students (中国大学生创业计划竞赛) http://www.tiaozhanbei.net has been the largest start-up business plan competition in China, and probably in the world. It is held every other year, alternating with the Challenge Cup Competition of Science Achievement in China. The China Challenge Cup is sponsored by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education of the PRC. Each participant university pays the travel and accommodation costs of its student contestants. In addition to presenting their plans at closed door sessions to venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and professors, student contestants participate in entrepreneurship- and tourist-related activities and meet with fellow contestants from throughout the country. Since 2006, student teams from Hong Kong, through the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong have been invited to take part in the China Challenge Cup. CUHK has traditionally sent winners from the previous Vice Chancellors Cup of Student Entrepreneurship (VCCE) to take part in the China Challenge Cup. This year, in addition to one of the VCCE winning teams, we seek up to two additional teams to represent CUHK.
