The story is set against the backdrop of the later years of the reign of
Genghis Khan. At a point when his power was at its peak, he decided to push
westward wanting to enlarge his empire so that he could see it stretch from
“the place where the sun rises to the city where the sun sets.” Smart, cunning,
vicious and strategic; at that point in his life, no one could equal him and no
one dared challenge him. That was until a master Daoist priest, Qiu Chuji came
down from his mountain monastery, pursued Genghis Khan for three years and
convinced him that immortality was only possible if he gave up violence and
killing. Thus the mighty Khan was tamed.

Based on true events
related to the life of up and coming Taiwanese piano prodigy Yu Hsiang (played
by himself), TOUCH OF THE LIGHT is a story of inspiration, discovery and love.
Born to a rural family in Taiwan
unprepared for the birth of a blind son, Yu Hsiang was a curious and precocious
child. Touch and sound was everything to him. With his hands, he could feel
better than anyone; with his ears and his tape recorder he could hear better
than anyone. Taken together with the love of his mother, he had an inner sight
and peace that enabled his imagination to soar and he excelled at the piano.
Now he is about to face the real world as he leaves his family behind in order
to attend university where he must compete on the same playing field as sighted
students and to find his own way. He soon crosses paths with Chieh (Sandrine
Pinna), a beautiful but frustrated cold drinks vendor who dreams of being a
dancer. When she witnesses Yu Hsiang’s fearless determination and optimism, she
is inspired to hold on to her dream.
