Ping-Fang (Clover) Chu’s – Self Introduction

          I use paintings to open the deep lock inside my heart, to carve a patterned window frame which allows the shadowy parts to be lit by the dazzling moonlight. For many years, I have lifted my hem and tip-toed my way through the enchantments of life. Ardently searching for a breathtaking message, I hold onto a pilgrim’s frame of mind to describe the bounding inspiration within the azure bow of sky. If it could be said that scent is the soul of a flower, then meaning is the spirit of a painting. Amidst life’s ordinary frustrations, occasionally inspirations come like the faint hint of a scent and I gather them up to become the beauty which cannot be swept away.
           At Emily Carr University in Vancouver, my major was contemporary art. I was inspired by Constantine to go deeply into abstract art. I started creating abstract art by first obser ving and resonating with the floating movement of clouds. They grasp tightly to each other and scream when the wind tears them apart. The small cracks of space between the clouds are magic spells whose words cannot be decoded but express the feeling which is a mixture of both sorrow and delight. This is the main nexus of my painting.
