Reasonable NoClone 4 Tips

This email talks about frequently asked questions. If you cannot find any duplicate files, try the following:

  1. Check if you are searching protected system folders like C:\Windows or C:\Program files, these folders are protected (excluded) by default. You can enable search within protected system folders,
    1. Run NoClone
    2. Click Exclude Path
    3. Uncheck Protect system folders.
  2. Some Mp3 files are the same but not detected by NoClone
    NoClone compares binary content of files exactly, thus comparison is accurate and duplicates are true. However, difference in mp3 tags and bit rate cannot be detected. In this case, do the following:
    1. Run NoClone
    2. Click Define in Search Criteria / Search Template
    3. Select Duplicate Mp3 from the list in Define Report dialog
    4. Refine your definition and click OK
  3. Some MS Office documents are the same but not detected by NoClone
    If MS Office documents inlcuding Word, Excel, Powerpoint are opened, it will be different to those not opended. v4.1 will address this issue. In the meantime, you can use v3.2's simple fuzzy match to uncover this type of files.
  4. Some image files are the same but not detected by NoClone
    As mentioned above in (1) NoClone compares exact binary content of files, image files resized, rotated, colours changed cannot be detected in current version. It is scheduled to address this issue.
