Yes, that’s right. We have several apartments (we are the owner, not the agent, BTW) in Guangzhou, China and would like to lease them one year FOR FREE.

Does that sound too good to be true?

Well, let’s get it straight:

These might be the most basic—and unattractive—apartments you would ever see in your lifetime.

The decorations are—well, non-existent.

There is absolutely nothing in them. No furniture, no painted walls, and the electric lines need to be re-installed.

In fact, we expect YOU to do the decoration.

And, the apartments are located in Tianlong Garden, Baiyun District, NOT the central area of Guangzhou.

If you want to go the most high-end business district in Guangzhou, namely, the center of Tianhe District, you have to walk 100 meter to the bus station, take a bus to the nearly metro station, which would be Longgui Metro Station, (about 15 minutes) and take the subway (another 20 minutes). And there you go—you would end up in the busiest street with the most high-end stores and the most convenient services.

But the area around our community is NOT a commercial district. Local restaurants and supermarkets are 5-10 minutes away—the locals love to dine out, by the way. So there’s some delicious—and inexpensive—Chinese food out there. But other than that, you are not going to find a whole lot of shops on the road.

You would need to send us a proposal as to HOW you would decorate the apartment.

We would be signing an agreement on what the apartments would look like after the rent-free period, and you may continue to rent the apartment upon mutual agreement after that period. Yes, you would need to pay the rent then.

Who should NOT consider renting our apartments?

If you just want to pay the rent and do not want to put in the efforts necessary to decorate the place you are staying at.

If you are too busy to put in the efforts.

If you want to stay at the center of Guangzhou and does not want to spend any time on transportation.

Who should consider renting our apartments?

If you are creative.

If you want to create your own space and do not mind putting in the hard work.

If you don’t mind spend a bit of time on transportation.

If you want to have a landlord who can speak English and who can help you out via phone when you REALLY need it.
