Amazing Wine in New Zealand - "Ata Rangi Pinot Noir"

Undoubtedly one of the best Pinot Noir makers in the famous area of Martinborough,
Ata Rangi produces amazing wines year in and year out. This winery was one of the first to
plant grapes in this region in 1979. The clone is Dijon and Abel which is now widely known
as the Ata Rangi clone in New Zealand. Instead of turning out monotonous wines,
the style of the Ata Rangi Pinot Noir is complex, elegant and supple with gorgeous
ripeness of red fruit and spice.

Pale to medium ruby in color, the 2011 Pinot Noir has an intensely perfumed nose with
abundant floral scents of violets alongside pomegrante and cranberries, lavender and some earthy aromas.  
Medium-bodied and offering a good intensity of fruit, it has a medium level of fine tannins,
balanced acid and a long finish.  Drink it now to 2021

A sleeper of the vintage from this estate best known for its exquisite Sauternes, this dry,
crisp, white Bordeaux is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. Beautiful notes of beeswax,
honeysuckle, lemon oil intertwined with hints of pineapple and orange rind are found in this medium-bodied,
lusciously fruity, zesty dry white. Moreover, it is available for a remarkably fair price.

以「釀造符合自己胃口的葡萄酒」的初衷下，他在FRANCIACORTA產區四處買下細心挑選的葡萄園，
接著研究分析每塊土地的差異&個性，重新規劃成107座風格獨具的微型葡萄園。
利用橡木桶發酵&熟成來釀造這些風格特異的葡萄酒，接著開始龐大工程的混釀，打造出堅若磐石的豪華風格。

這支BELLAVISTA FRANCIACORTA CUVEE BRUT NV雖是基本款，綿密且結構完整的氣泡、
撲鼻的小白花&西洋梨芳香，以及綿延不絕於舌的餘韻卻絲毫不基本，柏拉圖級的完美和諧。

The non-vintage Brut, is a blend of 80% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir, and 10% Pinot Bianco.
It exhibits a refined bouquet of yeasty bread, dried apricots, pear, and citrus. This wine,
which spent three years on its lees, is rich, fresh, medium-bodied, and long in the mouth,
with tiny pinpoint bubbles and a lot of frothiness.  Drink Now.

Disgorged in 2012, the 2006 Franciacorta Gran Cuvee Pas Opere Extra Brut shows focused tones

The flagship 2004 Cuvee Riserva Vittorio Moretti offers a myriad of aromas and flavors.
Smoke, ash, brioche and dried apricots come alive in the glass. Though initially quite expressive,
the wine turns much more intense and mineral-driven on the mid-palate and finish.
There is no shortage of personality here. It will be very interesting to see where the Vittorio Moretti,
named after the estate’s owner, goes from here. The Vittorio Moretti is roughly equal parts
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink Now to 2019.

将位于波尔多丘弗朗区（Francs Côtes de Bordeaux）的勒庞酒庄
（Chateau Le Puy）2003年份誉为“神之水滴”*，
盛赞其“400年没有使用过一滴农药”，“是一款用最为自然的方法酿造出的、奇迹般的酒”

           

『神之雫』 這部漫畫仍連載中，尚未揭曉那一支紅酒是「神之雫」，但漫畫改編成日劇，
完結篇將法國波爾多的「Chateau le Puy 2003」定為「神之雫」。日劇播出後，這款紅酒大賣，
許多酒迷和漫畫迷猜測未來漫畫結局也可能將這支酒選為「神之雫」，讓這支紅酒暴紅。
甚至有日本酒迷專程坐飛機到法國，指名要買這支酒。酒莊主人阿莫候（Jean-Pierre Amoreau）
雖為自家產品熱賣驚喜，但也擔心價格被炒作哄抬，破壞愛酒人的樂趣，決定不再出口。
阿莫候表示，他希望將剩下的酒賣給真正喜愛紅酒的同好，而非趕流行的人或投資客 

以下是日劇中關於神之雫的敘述:

Chateau le Puy - 傳承差不多400餘年。
酒莊位於法國聖達美利安 St. Emillion,屬於波爾多產區。
是右岸一個隱世的酒莊,細閱酒莊資料,知道酒莊採用Organic Method ,Bio Dynamic 等自然農法耕種,
不依靠現代化儀器的方便,只沿用傳統的釀酒方法,釀酒過程中亦不會加入人工酵母
及加糖,園內葡萄樹平均樹齡55年,根部最長70米長,平均丟棄其中30%,以追求完美的品質,
成熟後不經過濾按月缺時間裝瓶, (主人Amoreau 不透露是上弦月or下弦月-因為這是他們的商業機密)

採用最優質的水松軟木塞以人工以傳統的方法用蠟封密瓶口,只讓其天然地發酵;
更用超過五十年的陳年木桶,令酒味更加純樸天然,沒有將額外多餘的木桶及人工化的味道,
真正做到 Less is More 反璞歸真的原汁原味。在廿一世紀講求效率,包裝,市場,利字當頭的大洪流下,
這種我行我素,堅守傳統的執着,絕對是不可多得及值得尊敬。

The 2007 Barolo Cascina Nuova is another terrific entry-level wine. It naturally shows more depth
and body than the Barbaresco Bordini, but shares much of that wine’s early appeal. Sweet red berries,
hard candy, flowers and cedar are some of the nuances that emerge from this open, textured Barolo.
This is a feminine, silky Barolo best enjoyed while the fruit retains its raciness.
A clean, pointed finish rounds things out in style.  Drink Now to 2022.

The 2007 Barolo Ravera shows marvelous depth and richness, but is not hugely different from the Cascina Nuova,
perhaps because the vintage has such a strong influence in both wines. It is a big, muscular Barolo endowed
with layers of dark fruit, mocha, leather, licorice and smoke. A large, scaled dramatic finish rounds
out this compelling, totally delicious Barolo.  (Drink Now to 2025)

The 2007 Barolo Bricco Pernice, from the heart of Ravera, is a ripe, fleshy wine very much in the style of the year.
Layers of dark red fruit, flowers and spices caress the palate through to the rich, resonant finish.
The 2007 boasts incredible depth and sheer gravitas. Layers of flavor build to the sumptuous,
seamless finish. This is a bold, in-your-face Barolo that will drink well right out of the gate.
Three years in cask may have been a bit much for a wine that was so flashy from the outset.

The 2004 Barolo Vigna Elena is another fine, articulated wine that boasts layers of fruit.
The wine keeps getting better and better in the glass, in a stunning display of plums, leather,
minerals and French oak. Still tightly wound, this firm, classic Barolo should repay cellaring handsomely.
This is a fantastic Barolo from Cogno. The Vigna Elena spent 36 months in 40 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels.
