A sexy, seductive effort, the 2009 Bernateau reveals a full-bodied personality along with oodles of black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with spice and background wood smoke, silky tannins, and a texture that builds impressively and incrementally into a lush St.-Emilion. It should drink now to 2020.

A beautiful bright purple color. Pretty powerful nose of black fruit, cherry, On the palate, the tannins are present, pretty black fruit flavors are enhanced by abarrel farming that develops toasted notes, finishing on a fine note of hazelnut. Drink Now to 2018.

These are both super offerings from this over-achieving property in Lalande de Pomerol. They are very close in quality, with the Clos La Madeleine possessing slightly more glycerin and length. Both wines are well-endowed, medium to full-bodied, silky smooth, hedonistic cuvees that are packed and stacked with fruit. They both possess near term appeal, and should age nicely for 10 years or longer.

One of my favorite cult Puisseguin St.-Emilions. The 2011 Guillotin is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that hit 12% natural alcohol. It exhibits a sumptuous personality along with lots of blackberry and black currant fruit intertwined with charcoal, truffle and forest floor notes. Dense, rich and full-bodied with good acidity as well as sweet, well-integrated tannin, it should be approachable in its youth and evolve for 10+ years. Drink Now to 2021

Beautiful nose with forest floor, spices, flowers, game and meaty notes. Medium body, fat and fleshy fruit with silky tannins, fresh acidity and well integrated oak. I never would have thought it would be this good. Drink Now to 2020.

Tasting Note:
Another excellent vintage for Bordeaux's dry whites, which tend to be vastly underrated and exceptionally long-lived (30-40 years in some cases). The 2001's possess crisp acidity as well as serious weight, richness, and texture. Space constraints did not allow full tasting notes, but this is one of the top 2001 dry white Bordeaux wines.

Fashioned from low yields of 1.27 tons of fruit per acre, the 2000 Shiraz Alice’s is 100% Shiraz aged in American oak for 28 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. A strong effort for the vintage, it exhibits a deep ruby/purple color in addition to a sweet nose of blackberries, pepper, and licorice, medium body, and a fine finish.
