Dear Customar

High Recommand "South Rhone R.Parker 95 points, Wine Spectator 94 points".

Clos Saouma - Châteauneuf du Pape

With their micro-negociant operation well established in Beaune and seeking fresh challenges, Mounir and Rotem Saouma have established a small domaine in Chateauneuf du Pape. The wines are made using many of the same principles they apply in the Cote d’Or, principally extended fermentation and barrel maturation in the contact with the lees. The resulting wines show great purity and definition and although they are supple and alluring when young they clearly have the potential to age.

We are pleased to represent the newly established Clos Saouma, niche wines of great character!

R.Parker Tasting Note:
Glass coating, Wow! Very smooth, velvet, rich and long, some tea notes, juicy acids with firm underlying tannins. This is a very interesting and different CdP. No noticeable oak. Medium red in color. This wine is interesting expression of 80 year old vines. 100% Grenache. I like this a lot now, but feel it will be even better with some additional bottle age.  Drink Now to 2029.

Grape: The wine blend of Carignan 30%, Syrah 30%, Grenache 30% and Mourvedre 10%, aged in Franc oak 12 months.

Tasting Note:
A vibrant, richly coloured wine in the glass. Youthful, with a dense core. Lovely, fruit-driven nose, which suggests a blend of the typical southern French varieties; cherry fruit, herbs and garrigue aromas. On the palate it displays a pencil-lead fruit and a lean to medium body, but with juicy acidity and a pleasing freshness. An approachable wine very typical of the south, and lovely with food.  Drink Now to 2020. Barvo!!
