Recently we have spent a lot of time reviewing and reminding ourselves of the values of Mother’s Choice that have carried us through 26 amazing years and helped to make a difference in the lives of thousands of babies, young girls and families.

At our annual Board Retreat last month and during internal meetings with our Mother’s Choice team we took the opportunity to share our thoughts. Each and every volunteer is a pillar of our success and an integral part of our family and the families we help to build and we felt it was important to share these important values with you also.    

• Everything that we do is centered on the best interest of the child.
• We value the dignity of all human life.
• We value and encourage diverse cultures within the Mother’s Choice family and the community we serve. 
• We affirm that all effective growth is rooted in authentic relationship. 
• We believe in volunteerism and using the community to help the community. 
• We work together as a family and value teamwork.
• We provide holistic service that brings hope and second chances. 
• We proactively change culture by doing first and then teaching. 

Mother’s Choice would not be where it is today without the support of the many volunteers over the years who have committed selflessly and tirelessly to champion our cause and walk alongside us.  The road feels less lonely and hard with so many kindred spirits like yourself who love and care for the many babies, special needs children and young girls who need our services.  We are truly blessed to have such an outpouring of love and support from all corners of the Hong Kong community – from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I know that we do not say it enough. 

I also know that there are many other things that we can do better to ensure your experience as a volunteer is improved.  My commitment to you is that we are proactively reviewing all aspects of our Volunteer Engagement Programme to ensure that it does just that.  Our hope is that this will also enable us to open the door to many more volunteers who, like you, would like to give back to the community through Mother’s Choice. 

So please bear with us as there may be some changes as we start to review the structure and put some processes into place that will enable us to run our Volunteer Engagement Programme with greater efficiency and effectiveness.  In the meantime, we do have several staff positions that we are looking to fill at Pregnant Girls Services [click here].  We would love to hear from you, or perhaps someone you know, if there is interest in any of these positions.
